The SR 30's unique patented bolt-locking mechanism is nothing short of revolutionary. Unlike more complicated designs in the market, the SR30's "straight pull" design is actually "straight." There is no awkward swinging of the bolt first in an upward position followed by a secondary pull of the bolt rearward: the SR 30 requires only one swift motion backward and one swift motion forward to cycle a spent cartridge and reload the chamber.
Unlike lesser designs, the SR30 has the strength of a traditional receiver and a hand-fitted bolt to ensure the tightest tolerances: Each barreled action and bolt are individually proof tested as one unit at the German proof house in Suhl.
The other noticeable improvement is the magazine. Not only is the detachable magazine fast and efficient, it completely avoids the problems of top-loading through the open breech as seen on lesser designs.
STRENGTH? Invariably the question arises when discussing the SR30s unique locking bolt is one of strength. The SR30 is tested at the German Proof House in Suhl to 8,000 BAR, which is a little over 112,000 PSI.
Unofficially, the SR30 has been tested by third-parties up to 10,700 BAR. In round numbers, that's a little in excess of 155,000 PSI. Yes, one-fifty--five-thousand PSI. The photos speak for themselves.
In either case, the answer is clear; the SR30's unique locking system is more than adequate.
